Frequently asked questions

We understand that plans can change. If you're unable to attend your booked workshop, you may request to transfer your booking to another WomenzShed workshop, subject to availability and the following conditions:

• 14 or more days before your workshop: One transfer per booking is permitted at no charge.
• Between 7 and 14 days before your workshop: Transfers may be considered at WomenzShed's discretion and will incur a $27.90 administration fee.
• Within 7 days of your workshop: Transfers are generally not available. Exceptions may be considered at WomenzShed's discretion, subject to availability and payment of the $27.90 administration fee.

Any subsequent transfers will incur a $27.90 administration fee, regardless of when the request is made.

If transferring to a workshop of higher value, the difference in price must be paid before the transfer is confirmed. If transferring to a workshop of lower value, the difference in price is non-refundable.

Workshop transfers must be requested directly through WomenzShed and are not confirmed until we have agreed to the change.

Bookings cannot be transferred to another person unless agreed in advance by WomenzShed.

Please note that a transfer is a change to your existing booking, not a cancellation. If you wish to cancel instead, our cancellation policy will apply.

We currently run a range of workshops for beginners and novices.  Check out our range for specific requirements.

We provide all the tools you will need, unless stated otherwise.

1. Validity
   Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, unless otherwise stated.

2. Redemption
   Vouchers must be redeemed directly with WomenzShed by emailing us to book a workshop or by entering the voucher code when booking via an approved booking platform.
   Vouchers are subject to workshop availability.

3. Use of Vouchers

   • Vouchers may be used toward WomenzShed mobile workshops or future shed-based workshops.

   • One voucher may be used per booking unless agreed otherwise.

   • Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.

4. Pay It Forward Vouchers
   Pay It Forward vouchers contribute to subsidised or fully funded workshop places for other women.
   These vouchers are not redeemable by the purchaser and have no cash value.

5. Non-Refundable
   Gift vouchers are non-refundable, except where required by New Zealand consumer law.

6. Transferability
   Vouchers are transferable and may be gifted to another person, provided the voucher has not already been redeemed.

7. Partial Use
   If a voucher is used for a workshop of lower value, any remaining balance may be applied to a future workshop within the original validity period.

8. Lost or Misused Vouchers
   WomenzShed is not responsible for lost, stolen, or misused voucher codes. Please treat voucher codes like cash.

9. Changes to Workshops
   In the unlikely event of a workshop being cancelled by WomenzShed, voucher holders will be offered an alternative date.

10. Acceptance of Terms
    Purchase or use of a gift voucher constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

We understand that plans can change. As WomenzShed is a small non-profit organisation with ongoing costs, including workshop space, materials and instructor fees, our cancellation policy helps us manage these costs and continue offering workshops.

If you need to cancel your booking, the following conditions apply:

• More than 14 days before the workshop: A full refund will be provided, less the non-refundable Humanitix booking fee.
• Between 72 hours and 14 days before the workshop: A 50% refund of the workshop fee will be provided, less the non-refundable Humanitix booking fee. The remaining amount helps cover administration costs and the potential loss of a booking that may be difficult to fill.
• Within 72 hours of the workshop: No refund or transfer to another workshop will be offered unless WomenzShed is able to fill your place from a waiting list or with another participant. If your place is filled, we will refund your workshop fee, less the non-refundable Humanitix booking fee and a $27.90 administration fee.

These conditions apply to all cancellations, including those due to illness or unforeseen personal circumstances. We appreciate that these situations can be unavoidable, but our costs remain the same regardless of the reason for cancellation.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel, so we have the best chance of offering your place to someone else.

If WomenzShed needs to cancel a workshop due to insufficient enrolments, instructor unavailability or other unforeseen circumstances, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer a full refund of your workshop fee, including any booking fee charged to you, or discuss an alternative arrangement with you.

PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment. For woodwork, it includes ear defenders, eye protection, dust masks and gloves. We provide this for you but you are welcome to bring your own.  We especially recommend buying your own quality respiratory protection.

Not your Sunday best! Wood workshops by their nature are pretty dusty places. Wear close fitting clothing, closed in shoes (sneakers are fine), tie back long hair and don't wear dangly things eg jewellery that could get caught in machinery.

We run workshops from our dedicated workshop space in Henderson (8 Moselle Avenue) and Otaki Men's Shed, 186 Mill Road, Otaki.
