Team Building Workshops

Time out of the workplace that the team will actually enjoy.

Step away from your usual workspace and into our wood workshop for a hands-on experience your team will appreciate.  Everyone can get stuck into a woodworking project from the outset, so there’s no sitting around waiting for a turn, having to make small-talk or playing awkward games. We provide everything you need for a relaxed environment, where conversation happens naturally so that communication and confidence is developed. It all helps towards creating a positive workplace culture.

Our sessions are guided by experienced instructors in a fun and supportive environment   And no prior woodworking experience is required!

By choosing WomenzShed, your team is investing in a meaningful non-profit initiative that empowers women through practical woodworking skills.

1. Team Building values come from:

  • Learning a new skill together in an unfamiliar environment.
  • Encouraging colleagues to help and support each other.
  • Solving problems collectively (“How did you do that cut?” “Can you hold this for me?”).
  • Building confidence by celebrating each other’s progress.
  • Creating shared memories and conversations that continue back at work.

2. Activities that reinforce teamwork:

  • Working in pairs for certain tasks (measuring, clamping, assembling).
  • Sharing tools and workstations.
  • Give an opportunity for people to present their finished project and talk about their experience.
  • Adding a light-hearted challenge, such as “most creative finish” or “best recovery from a mistake.”

3. Creating individual projects also means:

  • Everyone leaves with something useful or beautiful they’ve made themselves.
  • Projects can be completed within the session.
  • Participants experience personal achievement while still sharing the journey with their colleagues.

3. Participant Numbers

The minimum and maximum number of participants will be agreed at the time of booking and will depend on the workshop selected.

We understand that participant numbers may change slightly as the event approaches. Small changes in numbers (1-2 people) can generally be accommodated, subject to the agreed maximum capacity of the workshop.

Any increase in participant numbers should be advised to WomenzShed as soon as possible. Where an increase in numbers requires additional instructors, equipment, materials or other resources, additional charges may apply. For larger increases in participant numbers, particularly where additional teaching staff are required, WomenzShed reserves the right to review and confirm the revised pricing before the additional participants are accepted.

For safety and practical reasons, the agreed maximum number of participants cannot be exceeded without prior approval from WomenzShed.

Any reduction in participant numbers should also be advised as soon as possible. While a small reduction may not affect the booking price, refunds or reductions for participants who do not attend are not guaranteed, particularly where staffing, materials and workshop preparation have already been committed.

4. Cancellation

The 30% deposit is non-refundable if the booking is cancelled.

If you need to cancel your workshop, we will work with you to find an alternative date where possible, subject to availability.

Where a booking is cancelled close to the workshop date, additional costs may apply where WomenzShed has already incurred non-recoverable expenses relating to materials, staffing or other preparation.

5. Rescheduling & Postponement

If you need to reschedule your workshop, please provide as much notice as possible.

We will make every reasonable effort to transfer your booking to an alternative available date. Where a workshop is postponed with less than 48 hours’ notice, WomenzShed reserves the right to charge any non-recoverable staffing, venue or other costs incurred as a result of the postponement.

6. Workshop Activities & Customisation

Our team building workshops are practical, hands-on experiences using woodworking tools and equipment.

We can tailor projects and activities to suit your group, including the level of experience, available time and desired team-building outcomes.

The specific project, activities, duration, participant numbers and inclusions will be agreed as part of your booking.

While we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate requested changes, these may not always be possible where they affect workshop safety, equipment requirements, staffing, materials or preparation time.

7. Safety & Participant Responsibilities

Because our workshops involve hand tools, power tools and woodworking equipment, safety is an essential part of the experience.

All participants must follow the instructions of WomenzShed facilitators and comply with workshop safety requirements at all times.

Participants must:

  • follow all safety instructions and directions from facilitators;
  • use tools and equipment only as instructed;
  • wear appropriate footwear and clothing;
  • disclose any relevant physical limitations or requirements that may affect their safe participation; and
  • behave responsibly and respectfully towards other participants, facilitators, equipment and the workshop environment.

WomenzShed reserves the right to stop a participant from using equipment or participating in an activity if we consider their behaviour or actions to present a safety risk.

8. Alcohol & Impairment

Participants must not attend or participate in the workshop while under the influence of alcohol or any substance that could impair their ability to safely operate tools or equipment.

WomenzShed reserves the right to refuse participation where a facilitator considers a participant to be impaired or otherwise unable to participate safely.

9. Venue & Workshop Environment

Unless otherwise agreed, the workshop will be held at the WomenzShed workshop venue.

If the workshop is being delivered at another location, the client is responsible for ensuring that the venue is suitable for the agreed activities, including appropriate space, access to power where required, and any venue-specific requirements.

WomenzShed reserves the right to modify or stop an activity where the venue or conditions are considered unsuitable or unsafe.

10. Equipment, Materials & Damage

WomenzShed provides the tools, equipment and materials required for the agreed workshop unless otherwise specified.

Participants are expected to use equipment responsibly and in accordance with facilitator instructions.

The client may be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement where equipment is deliberately or negligently damaged.

11. Weather & Unforeseen Circumstances

Where circumstances outside WomenzShed’s reasonable control make it unsafe or impractical to deliver the workshop, we will work with the client to reschedule the booking where possible.

This may include severe weather, power outages, building issues, equipment failure or other unforeseen circumstances affecting the safe operation of the workshop.

12. Liability

WomenzShed takes reasonable care to provide a safe and well-supervised workshop environment and to ensure participants receive appropriate instruction in the use of tools and equipment.

However, woodworking involves inherent risks, including cuts, splinters, flying debris, noise and injury associated with the use of tools and machinery.

Participants are responsible for following all safety instructions and using equipment appropriately.

WomenzShed is not responsible for injury, loss or damage resulting from a participant’s failure to follow safety instructions, unsafe behaviour, or deliberate misuse of equipment.

13. Photos & Promotion

WomenzShed may take photographs during workshops for promotional purposes.

If photographs of participants are to be used publicly, WomenzShed will seek the appropriate consent in accordance with its usual photography and privacy practices.

If your organisation has specific requirements regarding photography or publicity, please let us know before the workshop.

14. Changes to These Terms

WomenzShed may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The Terms & Conditions applicable to your booking will be those provided or agreed at the time of booking.

15. Contact

If you have any questions about your booking, workshop activities or these Terms & Conditions, please contact WomenzShed before your workshop.

We look forward to welcoming your team to WomenzShed for a practical, creative and memorable team building experience.
